Hello!
I’m Paula — or Pau — or 5PM.
I’m a Colombian-born photographer, and life has taken me on a few adventures along the way. I’m a creative person at heart, and yes, I absolutely love Diet Coke.
I’m also a teacher, a word that has come to mean so much to me over the years. I teach photography to different age groups, and lately I’ve been especially focused on working with kids — something that has been incredibly rewarding.
I created 5PM around the same time I realized I wanted to be a photographer, back when I was 15. And even though 5PM is often associated with the golden hour in photography, that’s not actually why I chose the name.
The number 5 has always been my lucky number, always has been, always will be. And PM? Well, those are my initials: Paula Montoya. So in a way, my name and my lucky number were already connected to photography long before I even knew what that would mean.
I decided to start this blog because I want to keep teaching, stay creative, and, more than anything, leave a little piece of myself out there.
Words don’t come as easily to me as photography, but I’ll do my best to keep the two connected.
For now, I hope you stick around and get to know more about my work and the space I’m building.
